Reading

mmm...for Christmas Jaimie received the Hunger Games series...and I started reading them...and am hooked...grr...I say grr...only because for me when I get hooked it's all consuming for me...I get grouchy when I am distracted and I neglect my duties and my bedtime is compromised. I am also fighting off a weird sickness. it's all in my throat...sometimes my ears itch...when I usually get sick I am all stuffy too..nope...not this time...and my voice is raspy and it hurts to swallow. Crazy. Anyway, I am tired...and now that my shows are back on I am just well...feeling like I need to let them go...and I am mourning the loss of not being in the know with the shows...that's okay...I can do it..it's not that fulfilling anyway and I am making a change for this year...and it's my year of possibilities...doing something different...and expecting different results! Well...productive day...got some grocery shopping done...saved a lot with store deals as well as manufacture coupons and spent as much as I saved! Nana Holly made the cinnamon roll recipe I have and she called and they turned out "almost as good as mine"...she's so cute! She's the expert...and I am just so honored that she and mom Holly love something I can bake! I try hard to reach Mike's taste buds...that's where passion in him lies...and well, the whole Lemon Meringue pie thing hurt me when he didn't choose mine...lol...perhaps I haven't told the story...I am too lazy to go back so to see so if this is a repeat then forgive me...but for Mike's bday he wanted Lemon Meringue Pie...and the first time I made one it turned out great...then I made one in 2009 for Thanksgiving and it was tasty but didn't hold up. grr...so then for his bday this past Nov. 13th... I tried 3 different recipes for Lemon Meringue so I could see just how good or not good they would be and to also make sure I followed step by step so they would hold up. Mike was pleased with one of them and it was his fav. So for this recent Thanksgiving I was making one again...however, my sister in law Liz said she was going to make one too...her mom's recipe...MIKE was giddy...a Bake off... I had already started mine and Liz commented she needed fresh lemons for her's...and I had already used the bottled lemon...so I told Mike to buy more cream of tartar since I'd have to make another with fresh lemon...anyway he forgot the cream of tartar, but got the lemons for Liz...no biggy we make them and they both look great...well my meringue looks a little better since I made the meringue for both of us but mine was ready for immediate use and she wasn't quite ready...either way not that big of deal...but when the taste testing came...Mike gave me this look like..."sorry babe"...and then he went on to say that Liz's was amazing...and although I did play mad...I wasn't but I truly was hurt...I feel he should have realized how hard I have worked to perfect this one pie just for him and well...even though I am thankful for honesty...in general...I hated that he was being honest about whose was better...so from now on...he doesn't get one from me! Liz...you have to make it K!!! xoxox

He back peddled fast and tried to save his butt by saying that it really isn't fair for sure as whose is best since I didn't use the fresh squeezed lemon and he liked the texture of mine better but the taste of hers...anyway...it all boils down to ... never enter a taste testing contest! Anyway...the whole reason I try is I feel this need to try to bake like Nana Holly...as though I am for sure to win his love and admiration...here's a thought though...haven't I already...given I'm married to the dude!?!? I sometimes forget I've already won the prize! And...I did bake him another pie since...with FRESH squeezed lemon and he loved it...or did he?!?!?! lol...I think he's learned he best lie ..heehee
oh..we fed the missionaries tonight...bbq chicken and sticky rice...will we ever get tired of it? girls didn't like the new sauce for the chicken...dad tried something different...a soy sauce thing...can't think of the name...he usually uses his dr. pepper bbq sauce..but he's out of the dr. pepper syrup. I liked it! Missionaries did too!
Well, off to bed...tomorrow we have to go return some library books and I better take the girls to the dinosaur park...they are dying to go there...hopefully the cold won't be so bad...plus I also need some canola oil and bread...so we'll head out for that too! We are invited to dinner at our friends home and I am making cinnamon rolls. woo hoo...well xoxo
