Celestial Marriage
I read and am rereading the talk from a prior general conference from Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles titled Celestial Marriage. I find it so amazing that I just randomly picked this talk and I was able to get from it stuff that was needed for me to know at this time. I usually get frustrated that Mike works long hours and then on Wednesday he has scouts...and then on top of that a weekend every month where he takes off with the Suburban and goes on a scout camp outing....I get irritated...for what reason...I don't know...just inconvenienced I guess...I haven't really soul searched to find out why it bugs me so...but that's not my point what I need to hear that calmed my irritation over the matter was this: "...All Church activities, advancements, quorums, and classes are means to the end of an exalted family." I am in an eternal marriage with Mike...we made a sacred covenant joined to one another in a celestial marriage. Our goal is a glorious one Elder Nelson goes on to say...our temple marriage embraces a partnership with God! Wow...sometimes I forget that...I had a rough moment with Mike the other day...a little spat and it seems like everytime we have an argument that I start entertaining the thought of life without him...and during those moments it seems like it'd be wonderful! lol! Once my anger fades however, I realize how idiotic those thoughts were and I look at him and adore him...he has to put up with a lot...and it has to be rough with 5 dramatic girls...Mike is a wonderful man...and what I read from this talk will help me when spats arise again and put an end (hopefully) to my thoughts of life without him. Elder Nelson said we each start marriage with two built-in handicaps....two imperfect people. yeah...I am not just the imperfect one...he is too...lol! no for seriousness...it was nice to hear that..."...Happiness can come to tem only thruough their earnest effort. Just as harmony comes from an orchestra only when its members mak a concerted effort, so harmony in marriage also requires a concerted effort. That effort will succeed if each partner will minimize personal demands and maximize actions of loving selflessness." Oh there is soooo much more sweet wholesome goodness in this talk...so if you desire to read it just click on the title of this post! xoxoxoxo

Oh Sweet Amy, thank you for this great post. There are many times I have similar thoughts. I know later it is just Satan, but that still does not help the next time. Glad the talk helps.
We miss you, and hope all is going well.
It definitely takes concerted effort to let certain arguments go etc... I am doing the book called "The Love Dare" It is from the movie Fireproof. It is a 40 day challenge and you really learn about having unconditional love for your partner. It is a book for marriages that are doing just fine or even ones that are hanging by the thread it will help. Are marriage is good but of course can use improvement :) I have noticed it has helped me A LOT with the way I act or think about Brendan! I have been doing it in secret so Brendan doesn't have a clue it has been fun :) It has some weird Christian type stuff sometimes but for the most part pretty normal. You can probably find it at Wal-Mart if you are interested :) Thanks for sharing you thoughts though :)
thanks Katie for the info about the book...I am going to get it..sounds fun...plus I heard that Fireproof was a very good movie. luv and thanks for all your comments. oxoxxoxo
