MRI results

Hello sweet family and friends, like many of you already know Christie's MRI results of her brain show that the corpus callosum is very small in volume and the splenium is not well developed. She has an otherwise very healthy brain and normal visualization of optic pathways.
What does this all mean though?
The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerve fibers that connects the two hemispheres of the brain and allows information to pass back and forth between both sides. (It's an abnormality of brain structure, present at birth)
We won't know much more about her issue since none of her attending physicians have seen the MRI images and she most likely will need to see a neurologist, geneticist, yada yada the list goes on. We are just a bit overwhelmed and am sure with more doctor appointments and just living day to day and monitoring her growth we'll learn more about how she'll be with this...it's not very common from what we've gathered from info from the world wide web!!! There is no cure from what we've learned and treatment is just the management of problems due to the hypoplastic (thin or underdeveloped) corpus callosum.
I am just so thankful for all your loving words of comfort and encouragement and we realize that it is what it is and we just buckle down and do what any other parent would do for their child....love them and do right by them and give them the best care we can!
Jaimie and Kassidy were so cute...when I explained to them that it may be hard for Christie to learn to talk and walk because she has something wrong with her brain they said..."we'll help her mom"...then Jaimie and Kass quickly organized who'd do what and Jaimie will help Christie speak and write and Kass get's to help her walk! Sooo cute. I am so thankful for my faith, for I know the purpose of life and "I can do all things through Christ which strengthenth me!"

Wow! Sorry to hear about the problems, but knowing how you are, you will be able to take it with stride and deal with all the complications and will do a great job. You guys will always be in our prayers! Your girls are also really cute to be willing to just jump in there and help out wherever is needed. Lucky you :)
